Sandra Vizcaya Callahan is a first generation Latina who was born in New York but raised in Colombia South America by her parents. One of the many blessings that she counts in her life is her close relationship with her 3 sisters and two brothers. Sandra was raised with a deep love for God, family values, a good education and was taught to always do the right thing, even when nobody is watching.
At 15 her family returned to New York. Sandra's parents' dream for their children was to offer them America's best opportunities, and Sandra as young as she was, knew she would give life in her new home country her best shot! . She did have a bit of a challenge as a teenager adjusting to a new country, a new language, a new school and a new culture. It was during that difficult time when a Christian friend invited her to a youth service. She has never stopped going to church since that time. At 17 years old she gave her life to Christ. That same year as she was getting ready to go to college she felt she could help minority groups by becoming a bilingual journalist. Sandra could relate to the culture shock others face while adjusting to life in this beautiful country, so she felt the need to make herself available to help others in her two languages. Sandra learned first-hand what Romans 8:28 teaches, “That all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to his purpose in Christ Jesus". Sandra holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Broadcast Journalism from Long Island University. While she was still in College she began to work for local Spanish TV and radio stations in New York as a reporter and host. She wrote news for Noticias Univision, hosted a cultural magazine for a production company which aired on Telemundo, and was a one-man-band reporter at News 12 the Bronx. It was during that time, working the 4 am shift, doing 24/7 news that she met her "not-so-Latin soul mate", William F. Callahan. After losing good friends, witnessing and covering the attacks of 911, Sandra and her husband decided to move to West Palm Beach to enjoy a slower paced life. This is when she decided to run two half marathons and go sky diving in the Florida Keys for a wedding anniversary. Even in Florida it has been kind of hard for Sandra to slow down. She and her husband have been led to cultivate a passion to unite Jewish and Christian people in their community. They work hard helping Christians understand the importance of our Jewish roots as believers, and our role in supporting the protection of Israel as The Holy Land. Sandra worked for the local CBS 12 station as an assignment editor, she was a reporter/anchor for Hola TV, and she launched NNPTV a local Spanish news channel online with two colleagues. Her love has always been to connect with the community while providing accurate information so people can make informed decisions for themselves and their families. Sandra's number one job now days is being a supportive wife and being a proud mom of two precious gems named Ruby and Crystal. She and her family have been fed spiritually at Christ Fellowship Church for 12 years, where she serves as a Spanish Translator. In September 2017 Sandra Vizcaya became the WFGC Television News director and is producing various news and information stories that are important to the WFGC television viewing audience. At this point in her career she is looking forward to connecting with viewers in a way she has never done before on the air, sharing her faith in Jesus Christ and using her God-given talent for God's Kingdom and his children. Sandra understands that as a mom, there is a battle in the culture for the hearts of our children in this generation. Working at WFGC will allow her to do her part in producing programming with a biblical perspective on current issues that affect our everyday lives. |
